Knockout City was released on May 21, 2021. At the time, it was a paid game under the auspices of Electronic Arts. At the beginning of last year, Velan stopped working with EA and decided to move the game to a free-to-play model, which, as it turned out, helped so little.
Boss Jeremy Russo said in a post that it’s extremely difficult for Welan to create a live service game. Besides there are many aspects of the game that need an overhaul to make it sustainable in the long run.. But this is simply not possible in the case of a small independent team. They intend to take everything they have learned and dive into something new and innovative.
The intention to release a PC version with a private hosted server is interesting. This will allow Knockout City players to continue playing.
