Developers Dead Island 2 from Dambusters Studios decided to replace the classic skill tree with a card system.
The skill tree was in the first Dead Island. Its authors, the Polish studio Techland (they also created Dying Light 2), divided it into three categories: combat, survival and rage. The creative director and lead story designer did not like this. According to them, they decided to take a chance and came up with skill cards.
They describe a deck of cards as slot set, which represent various abilities that you can toggle as needed. Cards should allow you to change the skills of the hero / heroine at will, at any time and in any place. You can always only carry a few cards in your gear, but there’s nothing stopping you from making a big jump and swapping cards before landing.
Developers consider this news one of the most interesting. The cards will be varied and their choice will significantly affect the gameplay.. Therefore, it will differ not only in the choice of character, but also in the selected cards.

During an interview with Game Informer, it was also confirmed that Dead Island 2 will feature totals. six playable characters. Everything will take place in Los Angeles. He was chosen because of the huge number of eccentrics that live in this city. Despite the zombie apocalypse, Los Angeles will not be a gray and depressing place.but a colorful city where a dark story takes place.
Dead Island 2 will release on April 28, 2023 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They will be in the game Czech subtitles.
