Representatives of the Canadian studio Raccoon Logic announced that they are preparing next generation version of Journey to the Savage event since 2020. The head of the studio is Alex Hutchinson, who, as creative director of Ubisoft Montreal, has made significant contributions to games such as Far Cry 4 and Assassin’s Creed III.
After leaving Ubisoft, Hutchinson co-founded studio called Typhoon, which released the aforementioned action-adventure Journey to the Savage Planet on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in January 2020. However, less than two months before the game’s release, Typhoon Studios was bought by Google, which at the time had big plans for its Google Stadia service.
One of the first party studios to provide this service with exclusive titles was to be a team led by Alex Hutchinson. But, as you’ve probably guessed by Stadia’s infamous fate, this is the situation. did not work out even at the studio itselfwhich Google closed about a year after its purchase.
However, its leaders, led by Hutchinson, did not give up and, with the help of a financial injection from the Chinese Tencent, founded a new studio called Raccoon Logic, where most of the former employees of the closed Typhoon ended up. Subsequently, even rights to Journey to the Savage Planet purchased. Currently, the developers are handling this brand without any problems, as evidenced by the recently announced version for current consoles, which is being created in collaboration with the publisher 505 Games.
The enhanced version boasts support for 4K resolution paired with 60fps (PS5 and Xbox Series X) or 30fps (Xbox Series S). In addition, the developers offer an improved photo mode, a redesigned user interface and an extension called Hot Garbage. Journey to the Savage Planet will be released initially for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. as part of the issue with the subtitle “Employee of the Month” on February 14. Owners of the original versions will receive the new version as a free upgrade.
