A Plague Tale entered the market on October 17 last year. On the same day, a patch with ray tracing on the PC was supposed to be released, but this did not happen. After RT, it was as if the earth had collapsed. It was beginning to look like we would never see it, but after about three months, the developers at Asoba finally called and immediately informed us that the update was out.
But in the end, it’s not as big of a visual shift as we initially hoped. The authors decided to use ray tracing technology only for ambient shading and shadows. This is of course important, thanks to ray tracing they are much sharper, but the impact is certainly not as big as, for example, using RT for reflections and general lighting. On a positive note, at least, the game will only perform 15-20% worse, according to Wccftech magazine’s test, which is not bad at all.
#APlagueTaleRequiemThe new patch is here: get ready for bug fixes and ray tracing on PC. Enjoy!
