The French company Ubisoft held a conference for investors on Wednesday evening. However, shortly before that, she released a press release, which probably will not please the players too much. The company decided to cancel three unannounced, unspecified projects. The reason is the reduction of the budget for subsequent years.
At the same time, the head of Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, said that he was not satisfied with the financial results of the latest titles, namely Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023. Finally, he adds that the company will now focus on big brands (which are also named at the beginning: Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six and Tom Clancy’s The Division), and basically states between the lines that we probably shouldn’t expect smaller projects.
Adding to the bad news, the press release also stated that the Skull and Bones pirate game, which has been in development for an incredibly long time, is being delayed again. So far, the latest release date has been March 9th, but apparently that’s not the case because, according to Ubisoft, the title should arrive sometime at the start of the new fiscal year, which starts in April. However, a beta version is expected to arrive “soon.”
The official Skull and Bones Twitter account is teasing the stream on Friday, January 13th, so maybe that’s where we’ll find out about the new release date.
Exciting times are just around the corner and we’re kicking off the year with a fresh episode of The Deck 👀#Skull and Bones
