A few weeks ago at The Game Awards 2022, he revealed Hideo Kojima sequel to Death Stranding. In the studio with his colleagues, he is still working on a mysterious new game in collaboration with Microsoft, which is the only necessary technological base provided.

Kojima wanted to create this game for several years. He thought about him for five or six years, he describes him as unusual and when he introduced it to various companies, no one was interested in such a crazy idea.

“I get bored easily. One of the reasons I’ve been able to make games for 30 years is because new technologies are replacing old ones so quickly. The technology you use today may not be applicable tomorrow, and I’m interested in finding ways to use new solutions. Of course, the wrong choice can end in failure. It’s kind of like a space program.” He says.

“The project we are working on with Microsoft required an infrastructure that was never needed before, so I talked to a lot of big companies about it and did presentations for them, but they really thought I was crazy. As a result, it was Microsoft who showed that they understood me, and now we are working together on a project, including a technological background.” Hideo Kojima spoke in an interview with IGN on the occasion of the seventh birthday of Kojima Productions.

According to earlier assumptions, this should be a project horror movie overdose with an actress Margaret Qualley, who already played the role of Mama in Death Stranding. We saw a short video of a figure in a blue dress moving through a dark and ruined environment. It seemed that the main character is being chased by some unidentified entity. Near the end of the video, she hides until a mysterious creature finds her, causing the heroine to scream, and the game ends with “GAMEOVER”, “Hideo Kojima’s game” and “OVERDOSAGE”.

Overdose is expected to require a cloud platform that matches the original reports that the game was originally planned for Google Stadia.

Otherwise, the Japanese designer and screenwriter takes pride in the fact that his Kojima Productions studio is not a public company, so he doesn’t have to strive for sustainable growth. Instead, he focuses on always creating something unique.

“I want to leave a good job behind, and that’s my attitude towards making games, even when I’m thinking about other types of visual projects.” he added that he only wanted to make his own games and had no interest in licensing other companies’ brands.
