A group of players already wants to block the acquisition of Activision Blizzard

Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard has been a topic of discussion since the acquisition was announced earlier this year. However, it’s likely that none of the participants had any idea how big the problems would be and that it might take some time to complete. Microsoft is facing criticism not only from Sony, but also from European and American authorities. In addition, two weeks ago, the US Federal Trade Commission announced that it was taking the entire case to court. And now there is another problem that we probably did not expect at all.

Axios magazine reported that a group of 10 US players are also trying to block the acquisition. This will jeopardize competition, they say, which they say will lead to higher prices, less innovation, less creativity, less customer choice, less games overall, and other negative impacts. Interestingly, these should be players who, for the most part, do not play on the Xbox at all, some of them use different devices, but exclusively the PlayStation.

However, Axios spoke to antitrust expert and Michigan Law School professor Daniel Crane, who says the new lawsuit is not a problem:

“The FTC has already filed a lawsuit to block Microsoft/Activision, so I honestly don’t understand why these players are spending money to file a lawsuit themselves.”
