After the 18-minute intro, IGN magazine is also releasing new videos from the highly anticipated remake of survival horror Dead Space. In the last part, one of the writers, Joe Berry, explains how they changed the story in the remake.
One thing is clear, the foundation remains the same and no major changes are taking place. But at the same time, the developers did not want to simply copy the story 1: 1, so that not only beginners, but also veterans would like it. And also in order to be better connected with the second part. Of course, the news that Isaac Clarke is talking in twos and threes plays a big role in this.
But there are more changes. For example, the religion known as Unitology is revealed much earlier, and at the same time, the reason why Isaac had a negative attitude towards it from the very beginning is clearly given. His mother was religious, but for the Church of Unitology, she spent all her savings intended for the education of Isaac on religious activities. This is information that we already had in the original, but it was “hidden” in one of the text documents that not every player will read. In the remake, we find out naturally through one of the dialogues.
And if we talk about text documents, they have also undergone a slight transformation. Some have been slightly reworked, others have been re-added and serve, for example, side quests, which are a new part of the game, unlike the original, which was essentially a purely linear affair. But interestingly, some of the audio and video logs were converted to AR to make us feel more immersed in the situation and feel like these people were actually working on USG Ishimura.
In the video, among other things, we were able to see the face of the protagonist Isaac Clarke for the first time. It is very different from the original, but it is clear that here the authors wanted to bring the image closer to the person who voiced the character, that is, Ganner Wright.
Also, a few days ago we received another video where you can see a comparison between the weapons in the original and the remake, especially the iconic Plasma Cutter.
