At The Game Awards, we finally got confirmation of the PC version of the Roguelite Returnal event that has been rumored for months. Shortly after that, a product page was published on Steam, where, in addition to the description of the game, we also received very interesting information, namely system requirements. Returnal has been a PS5-exclusive so far, which in itself means that it’s a pretty demanding game, and the hardware requirements just confirm that.
The minimal ones probably won’t surprise you that much. At least an Intel Core i5-6400 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X processor plus 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 with 6 GB of VRAM or an AMD Radeon RX 580 with 8 GB of VRAM. More interesting with RAM, where in the basic requirements you can already find the number 16 GB, usually 8. The game also requires 60 GB of disk space, and of course an SSD is recommended.
As for the recommended requirements, you must have at least an Intel Core i7-8700 or AMD Ryzen 7 2700X processor and an Nvidia RTX 2070 Super graphics card (8 GB VRAM) or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12 GB). By far the most notable here again is the RAM, as 32GB is listed here, which is truly unheard of for a game. Let’s wait for the release if the game really needs such power.
Finally, I would like to add that the authors of the game from the Finnish studio Housemarque are collaborating with Climax Studios on the PC version. The return will also come with updates that came to PS5 only later, i.e. Sisyphus Tower and co-op mode. However, it will only work with other players on PC and not on PlayStation.
We don’t yet know the exact release date for Returnal on PC. At least for now, you can add the game to your Steam wishlist.
