Although it may seem hard to believe, even developers sometimes cut their own branch and go against their players. They give away unauthorized bans or free gear, destroying the economy of the game. Something similar was done by one of the developers of the multiplayer game Escape from Tarkov. He hated being killed by a player, so he began handing out bans.
A user with the nickname Interest_Ad_1513 took to Reddit to complain about the behavior of one of the developers of the game. He entered into a duel with him and won it. Thus, the opponent lost all his equipment and, in order to take revenge, permanently banned the poor player. However, in the case of a permanent ban, an appeal is impossible, so the player had no choice but to write about the situation on Reddit, where in two days he collected more than 1,500 comments and 17,000 likes.
Several users immediately began sharing the story, including on the game’s official Discord server. But they were immediately banned, because apparently it was a violation of the rules. But when the moderators saw that he just shared the player’s story, they apologized to the users. After some time, Interesting_Announcement_1513 received the desired release from the claws of the banning hammer. But it’s not exactly a happy ending. His entire account has been deleted. Thus, he lost all equipment and levels. He added that it doesn’t bother him at all, because the wipe (full server wipe) is getting closer anyway, but it’s still not an ideal situation.
With any luck, developers will learn. But it is also possible that such bullying of the players will be repeated. What do you think about this? Does the developer have the right to ban a player?
