CD Projekt RED invited selected journalists to Warsaw to introduce them in more detail next generation version The Witcher 3 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. As we know, the free update will also be coming to PC.

In the offices of the well-known studio, journalists were allowed to play for about four hours, but no recordings could be made. Instead, they received video of the first 15 minutes of gameplay in performance and quality modes with ray tracing enabled. British company Eurogamer’s Digital Foundry has filmed a video to show how Geralt of Rivia’s latest adventure works on next-gen consoles.

The Witcher 3 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will offer two graphics modes: Ray-traced quality mode at 30 fps and performance mode at 60 fps. In both cases the game uses FSR 2.1, AMD image upscaling technology to achieve dynamic 4K resolution. FSR 2.1 also replaces the old FXAA and TAA anti-aliasing options, the result is a much more stable image.

But during the game, journalists noticed instability. Quality mode noticeably does not hold 30 FPS, which is why they recommend gaming performance mode, because even in it you see new 4K textures and improved/richer vegetation. But they were here too there are minor drops below 60 FPSbut they might be able to pick it up at CD Projekt RED.

According to available information There are no significant differences between PS5 and Xbox Series X in terms of frame rates and smoothness.. The question remains how The Witcher 3 will run on the Xbox Series S. They haven’t had a chance to play on the weakest next-gen console, but the writers have previously stated that the game will run in performance mode at 60 FPS while the quality selection will at a higher (unspecified) resolution, but without ray tracing.

Powerful PC owners can also look forward to ray tracing and a new graphics option called Ultra Plus, which will render objects at a greater distance and denser grass. Everything is then accompanied by other improvements on PC and consoles, including new weather animations, more detailed shadows, new camerasmap marker filter, smoother magic spells, fast picking herbs as well as content related to the Netflix series The Witcher, including a new side quest. We wrote about this and much more in a previous article.

Thanks to colleagues from Gry-Online, we learned that a new quest takes place in the Devil’s Pitwhich has been used a lot so far. For this expedition, the developers prepared the interior of the mine from scratch, and a danger warning hangs over the entrance gate to the mine. So, apparently, we have something to look forward to.

On this occasion, CD Projekt RED fixed a number of bugs, including a flying dagger on Ciri’s belt when Geralt finds her. The physics of the engine was causing a problem and the best solution was to remove the dagger. Several quests have also been fixed and improved/adjusted a lot of small detailswhich should make the overall experience more enjoyable, including Klepna, which can now do a bit more.

The patch will be released on 14.12 this year.
