First Trial – A Plague Tale: Requiem
In our second special where we test a LYNX gaming PC with a Ryzen 5 5600 processor, GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card, 16GB DDR4 RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD, we’ll take a look at Game Control. This game is over three years old, but it’s still true that it’s a very graphics-demanding game, especially when ray tracing is enabled. So, we tested all three common resolutions (1080p, 1440p and 4K) again with different quality settings, RT and DLSS technology. As a test location, I chose the very initial location of the game.
We’ll start with FullHD resolution, where you can enjoy very high frame rates even at the highest quality settings. None of the others really make much sense, but I checked them out anyway. For example, with DLSS Performance you get up to 230 fps on average. If you are confused by the regression of the lowest values, I think it has something to do with the 240 fps value, which seems to be the limit in this game, the implementation of which negatively affects 1% of the minimum. In any case, we are talking about really high numbers.
FullHD with ray tracing is much more interesting. Here too, at the highest quality and RT settings, you can easily get over 60 fps. But if you want a higher frame rate, DLSS Quality is definitely not worth throwing away, because the image quality is very similar to native and the FPS increase is very noticeable.
At the popular 1440p resolution, we again see excellent frame rates at the highest settings. You get 92 fps on average, even 141 fps when using DLSS quality, so higher refresh rate monitors can be used here as well.
Ray tracing at 1440p is the first test where the RTX 3070 does well for the money. With maximum RT effects, you will only reach 51 FPS on average. You can achieve higher values by lowering ray tracing to medium, but I don’t recommend it too strongly because there is a much better solution and that is DLSS. The “Quality” setting is more than enough for you, the image quality is again excellent and you can expect an average of 90 fps.
Let’s move on to 4K resolution, where it is already quite bad at high frame rate settings. But when DLSS is enabled, you can easily get over 60 fps again. It’s also worth paying attention to the Performance mode this time, as the loss in quality isn’t as great, and the frame rate increases to an average of 107fps.
Ray tracing at 4K is a bit too much for the RTX 3070, at least when it comes to native resolution. Deep Learning Super Sampling will again help where the Quality mode is not enough, where you get 48 FPS, but in the Performance mode the frame rate is much better – an average of 72 frames per second and 1% of the lowest values. exactly 60 fps.
So, as you can see, with the LYNX gaming PC, you can play Control really well. In FullHD and 1440p with virtually no compromise, in 4K with DLSS technology.
