Sherlock Holmes The Awakened was the very first game in this now quite rich Frogwares series. Now a Ukrainian studio is creating its remake, which will bring many improvements and rework the whole story. It was announced back in the spring, and shortly after that, a successful Kickstarter campaign took place. Since then we have seen several trailers, and now the developers have come up with a new video introducing the game itself.
Of course, there was a reminder of what we already know. This is a detective adventure where Sherlock meets Cthulla. We will explore partially open locations or use the thought palace. However, Sherlock’s progress is slowly being killed off by his gradual insanity from the environment. They say that we can count on about 15 hours of playing time.
The developers say they are already in the final stages of development and the game should be released in February or March next year. That is, at least if there are no further complications, because part of the developers are now working in the army or otherwise helping in the current war. The authors once again thanked everyone who supports the studio, whether it’s playing games, writing messages, or making a financial contribution.
In addition to the video, Frogwares also commented on the battles, which were new mechanics in the previous game in the series, which was subtitled Chapter One. However, they made it clear that there was no place for fights in The Awakened, so they would not be in the game. It is supposed to focus only on horror and investigation.
Sherlock Holmes The Awakened is out on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. You can add the game to your wishlist on Steam.
We’ve been getting questions about combat in The Awakened. The answer is no, there will be no fight. Since the game is a remake of the original game, there was no place for it. The focus is on story, investigation, and Ghastly Horror.
