The Finnish studio Remedy has such successful games as the first two parts of Max Payne, the thriller Alan Wake and the latest Control. This adventure game was the first game to really connect the gradually building Remedy Connected universe as part of the AWE DLC where we could meet writer Wake.
The studio is very busy right now, working on Alan Wake 2, Project Vanguard multiplayer, Max Payne remakes, a co-op game from the world of Control, and then another game from this universe. It was a project with the former name Hedron. However, today’s announcement confirmed what we thought since the first mention of this project, we are talking about Control 2.
The announcement was made in a relatively brief press release aimed primarily at investors. We learned that initial development budget 50 million euros, and that Remedy retains the rights to the brand as such. However, as in the case of the first part, they are associated with an Italian company. 505 gameswho will take care of console release and development part. The profits will then be split equally between Remedy and 505 Games.
Control 2 is aimed at PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|Sbut it is created on the internal engine northern light, as well as all other Remedy projects (except Vanguard). We don’t even know the release year, and given that the project is in concept stagewe will probably have to wait a while.
In the meantime, you can check out at least the first concept art and read the statement from game director Mikael Kasurinen:
“With Control, we went into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something unusual and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you viewers for making Control such a success for us.” says Kasurinen.
“With Control 2, we have taken another leap into the unknown. It will be an unexpected adventure. It will take some time, but to put it mildly, it will be the most exciting project I have ever worked on. It’s still early, but it’s worth the wait.”
We have signed an agreement with 505 Games to co-develop and publish Control 2, the sequel to Control. Read the announcement: https://t.co/UD1iFHvCeH
