About Games and People is a collection of interviews from Level magazines that brings together the best of what has been created over the past ten years. The creation of this work was made possible by Startovač, where, during the campaign, the community decided to digitize the entire Level magazine archive. Within its framework, 1.6 million kroons were collected, which made it possible to fulfill the required goal by 1121%. And it was precisely the significant excess of the original goal that made it possible to create three books, of which the first is devoted to interviews.
One of their editors and co-owner of Level magazine comments on the process of creating the book “On Games and People”. Martin Bach thus: “We selected interviews that were made over the last 10 years of Level’s existence. Ever since we took over the magazine from a major publisher, we’ve come to see interviews as one of the pillars of a new style of content. We traveled overseas to meet celebrities and did interviews in person or at least face to face over the Internet.”
A total of 37 interviews can be found in the book About Games and People with personalities who determined the shape of the gaming industry in the 1970s and 1980s. It can be found in various authors. Ron Gilbert, who recently released a sequel to his Monkey Island series titled “Return to Monkey Island”. In addition, he will also offer you an interview with the creator of Kingdom Come. Dan Vavraco-owner of Bohemia Interactive Mark Shpanelfather of the Fallout series Brian Fargo, John Romerowhich is strongly associated with the iconic FPS DOOM and a number of other integral characters.
He comments on the form of the book’s processing itself. Martin Schovanekco-owner of Xzone as follows: “When commissioning the book, together with the editors-in-chief of The Level, we fully agreed that such a publication deserves luxurious treatment, thanks to which it will become an indispensable decoration of the library. All 580 pages are printed on high-quality 130g paper, and the total weight of the book is close to 2kg.“
The book “On Games and People” should hit the market in December 2022, just before the Christmas holidays. The exact date is not yet known. However, you can now pre-order it exclusively from Xzone, where it will cost you 990 crowns.
