In the summer, a remake of Sherlock Holmes The Awakened was announced, which became the first game from this detective series created by Ukrainian developers Frogwares. Because of the war in Ukraine, they settled on a smaller project that they could complete even with all the obstacles, and the remake came to them as the best option. Anyway, they asked fans for financial support on Kickstarter, and the campaign was a huge success, with Frogwares reaching several additional goals in addition to the amount requested. A few months into the end of the campaign, development seems to be going well and we’ve got our first gameplay trailer.
It clearly shows a gloomy, almost frankly horror atmosphere. After all, this is a crossover with the Cthulhu myth, so it’s clear that the tone of the game will be very different from the colorful first chapter. At the same time, the developers invite a rational Sherlock and an extraterrestrial being, whose existence defies any logic, to a meeting. Thus, the young detective will struggle with the madness that gradually penetrates him.
Sherlock Holmes The Awakened is out on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The preview mentions a release in early 2023, specifically Q1 on Steam. But if nothing has changed, then it should be February, which was already mentioned in the Kickstarter campaign.
