Call of Duty needs a PlayStation and PlayStation needs Call of Duty. It’s news that’s been circulating the internet today after Modern Warfare 2 broke sales records for the series on the PlayStation Store.
Without going into details, Sony congratulated Activision and Infinity Ward for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 had the best start of any Call of Duty series on the PlayStation Store..
This success was driven by pre-orders, early access to the single-player campaign, and opening day sales. Thus, Modern Warfare 2’s soft reboot outperformed every other installment, including 2019’s Modern Warfare.
congratulations on this @InfinityWard as well as @activation at the largest Call of Duty launch in PlayStation Store history (including pre-orders and day one sales).

Undoubtedly Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be one of the best-selling games of this year. In addition, Activision determined that the physical copy contained only 70 MB of data on disk. It’s just a setup file. The remaining approximately 150 GB must be downloaded by the players.
Phil Spencer, head of Microsoft’s gaming division, stressed in a new interview that he does not aim to exclude the PlayStation from Call of Duty. He wants to get closer to a successful shooter like Minecraft. He had said similar words before, but now he was much more determined:
“As long as there is a PlayStation to release games on, we intend to continue to release Call of Duty on PlayStation.” Spencer stated. In terms of releasing the game, Sony executives can sleep easy. But they seem to be concerned about the introduction of Call of Duty to Game Pass.

Modern Warfare 2 is also doing well in the UK.. The game climbed to number one last week, beating out FIFA 23, Bayonetta 3, Horizon Forbidden West, Gotham Knights, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope, Nintendo Switch Sports, Splatoon 3 and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker. Saga.
With sales of over 425 million units, the Call of Duty series is among the best-selling brands in the world. Only games like Mario, Tetris, and Pokémon have more of them. Unsurprisingly, teams led by Infinity Ward, Treyarch, Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software, Neversoft, Beenox, Moon Studios, and Gray Matter Studios are working on Call of Duty.
Meanwhile, an interesting discovery was made in Canada. The box says it’s the top-selling Xbox franchise, but it’s in French. Xbox has been replaced by PlayStation..
In addition, some players who purchased a physical Xbox #MVII in Canada noticed a mistake on the box.
“Best Selling Franchise on Xbox” somehow translates from French as “PlayStation”.
