We have known about the existence of the upcoming multiplayer game from the world of The Last of Us for some time. Some time ago it was revealed that the project, which was originally planned as a multiplayer mode for The Last of Us Part II, will become big standalone game.
This information was confirmed by the Naughty Dog studio itself in June of this year. It then added that the game will also offer some form of story-driven experience with new characters. Disclosure of additional information to developers left for next year.
A recently updated overview of proposed positions at Naughty Dog suggests the title will be can be built on a free-to-play model. The studio is currently looking for a producer who, among other skills, should ideally have experience developing free AAA games and live services.
Of course, this does not automatically mean that the title will operate entirely on a free-to-play basis. However, the likelihood that this may be the case has increased somewhat.
