While we haven’t seen much of the game yet, the upcoming RPG Age of Dragons: Dreadwolf from BioWare and EA is slowly but surely coming. This proves the latest announcement, in which the CEO of BioWare Gary McKay showed that developers have reached alpha status. This means that they can already complete the game from start to finish..

Of course, this does not mean that the title is finished. The alpha of any game usually contains a lot of unfinished content or bugs, and the final product is still far away. While there have been many times when major publishers, including EA, have tried to sell us a game in an unfinished state and pretend it’s finished, it’s just not the end of development.

Also, by the way, this does not mean that we should expect a playable demo in the foreseeable future, because. what we usually get under the name “alpha” or “beta” is in the vast majority of cases only a demonstration of a limited time. based on the version of the game that will eventually hit the market and that can no longer be influenced by player feedback because by then it’s simply too late for such a thing. After all, they are EA experts at that too, just think of any Battlefield in recent years. So here we are talking about a real alpha version, not a trial version with a different name.

In any case, the developers from BioWare will now focus on adjusting gameplay or graphics.

“In addition, now we can evaluate the pace of the game, how relationships develop over time, the progress of the player, as well as the coherence of the narrative – basically, how the story fits together. We can take a written story and see if we express it well through characters, dialogue, cutscenes, and the player’s journey itself. Now that we have the ability to play the game from start to finish, we can customize what our fans care about the most.” McKay added.

BioWare’s general manager also revealed that he’s already looking forward to introducing us to the characters we’ll meet as we play the new Dragon Age, and tempted us to visit the Minrathousecapital of the Tevinter Empire.

“We’ve talked about Minrathous in previous games, and now you can finally visit it! It is a city built on magic, which is strongly reflected in its visual identity. Compared to the previous cities we’ve had the opportunity to visit in Dragon Age, they look really impressive.”

To top it off, Gary McKay promised that the developers will continue to communicate transparently with the community and assured us that the team in question is preparing the next major update for the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic.

He also reminded us that another single-player installment in the Mass Effect series is being developed elsewhere at BioWare. After all, November 7th is N7 Day, aka Mass Effect’s official fan holiday, so we can only hope we learn something new on this occasion as well.

Age of Dragons: Dreadwolf it does not yet have an official release date, but is not expected to be released until the second half of 2023. It is also expected to be released on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
