Microsoft today released financial results for the first fiscal quarter ending September 30th. The company alone achieved $50.1 billion in revenue and $17.6 billion in net income. In annual comparison, this means an increase in revenues by 11% and, conversely, a decrease in profits by 14%.
The company explains the decline in profits less interest in computers, which, on the other hand, generated record interest a year ago thanks to the pandemic. Inflation and persistent supply chain problems have also not helped the situation.
The growth was recorded by the Xbox division. General gaming revenue grew by 4%. Only the equipment itself grew at an annual rate of 13%. Games and services, on the other hand, fell 3%. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella also revealed that more than half of Xbox Series S console owners are unfamiliar with the Xbox ecosystem.
Nadella also drew attention to the skyrocketing growth of PC Game Pass users. This branch of the Game Pass for PC players has expanded from last year. user base by 159%. The Xbox Cloud Gaming service is also doing well, with more than 20 million players, according to Microsoft.
