Disco Elysium is a game where few expect non-stop drama. It was the creation of enthusiasts with little connection to games, which is not very common in the gaming scene. However, as time went on, a lot has changed. Last year, several important employees of the studio were fired, which was ultimately considered unreasonable. Now, according to the website of the Estonian court, chief designer Robert Kurvits is starting a new chapter in this drama that sheds light on ZA/UM in a bad light. The plaintiff in this case is Kurwitz with his company Telomer OÜ, and the defendant is Zaum Studio OÜ. The exact cause of the lawsuit is not yet known, but the first hearing will take place on November 28.
However, it will most likely be a legal process to settle the layoff, which co-founder Martin Luigi said didn’t go quite the way it should have. It is also theoretically possible that Kurvitz is trying to acquire the Disco Elysium brand as such. We will probably find out about his true motives during the next month, when the first court session takes place.
