In recent years, independent studios from Poland have come up with interesting and unconventional ideas. From the creators of Achara Studios comes a story-driven single-player RPG set in an alternate world of Art Nouveau, neon lights and conspiracies. The title is called confiscator You will play as Arthur Newsted, a debt collector whose life begins to unravel when he unexpectedly finds himself heavily in debt.
Developers focus primarily on history and its unique style. It offers gameplay complex dialoguesnegotiation, exploration, combat and mechanics borrowed from stealth and card games are combined in an open world.
You will play in first person. The creators think that this is not just another so-called walking simulator. “Repo Man is closer to Torment than it is to Disco Elysium. When developing a game, we strive to offer a varied and fun gameplay experience, and not just click on dialogue options.” says Alan Padzinsky, CEO of Achara Studios.
After being heavily indebted, Arthur is exiled from the world of the corporate aristocracy. Hooray forced to make his way to his hometown of San Alma. Here he is faced not only with the need to regularly repay debts, but also with mysterious events and intrigues, escalating every week.

“We will introduce players to an alternate reality — a world similar to ours, more developed in some ways, lagging behind in some ways. This is a world inhabited not only by people, but also fairies – the descendants of mythological creatures resembling elves, dryads and satyrs. The inhabitants of the planet also suffer from TDD, an epidemic type of depression, the cause of which remains unknown. This world is closer to the end than to the beginning.” explains Padzinsky.
Original atmosphere with unique graphic design with reminiscent motifs modern style complemented by a soundtrack that mixes genres, including synthwave, fado, ethnic and symphonic music.
Although the project was created on the modern Unreal Engine 5, it is not very impressive from a visual point of view. But it cannot be denied that its authors have an interesting idea. If the text above interests you, then Repo Man will be released on PC (via Steam) in 2023. Later versions are planned for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
