Helena Taylor should have received more money than she claimed for dubbing Bayonetta.

We recently wrote about a rather embarrassing situation that caught the anticipated hack and slash game Bayonetta 3. Hella Taylor, who voiced the main character in the first and second parts, explained on Twitter why her voice will no longer be heard in the trio. She claimed that she was only offered $4,000 for the entire game, which she considered a parody. Daberka also criticized her successor, Jennifer Hale, who she says has no right to “be” Bayonetta.

But now the whole thing is getting a little confusing as journalist Jason Schreier came up with a new piece of information in an article for Bloomberg magazine. According to his sources, PlatinumGames did intend to recast Taylor for the lead role. She had to come to the studio five times at four-hour intervals, receiving between $3,000 and $4,000 for each recording session, for a total of at least $15,000 for the entire game (Schreier claims he has written proof of this). This is more than three times more than what the dubber herself claimed. She allegedly demanded a six-figure sum plus an additional fee, which PlatinumGames refused. Taylor was later to be offered at least a cameo role in the game, but the voice actress turned it down.

She responded to Bloomberg via email, stating that this is “an absolute lie” and that only PlatinumGames is trying to salvage the whole situation.

The entire Bloomberg report was also confirmed by another magazine – VGC, namely journalist Andy Robinson. He added that Platinum tried to re-sign Taylor last summer. He gives the same amounts as Schreier. In addition, he argues that it should have been “a significant increase compared to the salary for the second part.”

Neither PlatinumGames nor Nintendo have yet commented on the situation.
