We recently wrote that in the third Bayonetta the main character will be voiced by a different actress than in the first two parts. While Hella Taylor played the character in them, she was voiced by famed voice actress Jennifer Hale in the trio. From the very beginning, the announcement seemed a little strange, the developers only said that Taylor “didn’t have time” and was busy with other projects. In the end, the reason was completely different, as Hella Taylor herself now explained in a video on Twitter.
“Boycott Bayonette 3” is its main message. In the video, she shared her story about how PlatinumGames allegedly offered her a completely ridiculous amount. She then wrote to Hideki Kamijo himself, who is behind the first two volumes and is also one of the founders and leaders of the studio. She received a response from him that he really appreciated her work, but she was only to be offered $4,000 to dub Bayonetta for the entire game. This became a big insult to Hellena Taylor and she decided not to duplicate the game.
If anything, Taylor also criticizes Jennifer Hale, who took over the role after her: “She has no right to say that she is the voice of Bayonetta, I created this voice. She has no right to sign goods like Bayonetta.”
Hideki Kamiya indirectly commented on the whole case on Twitter, where at first he said that the reasons were different, but then he began to block everyone who asked him about Helena Taylor. Now you won’t find his Twitter account anymore.
And how do you perceive the whole situation? Due to the current case, you will not buy Bayonetta 3, although you may have originally planned?
The game releases on October 28 exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
