Officially for the first time, PlatiumGames commented on his glorious end Fall of Babylon “deeply I am sad“not only for the failure of the game, but also for the live service games will continue.
We know the story: Babylon’s Fall, which started out as an extremely interesting project, took a rather unexpected evolution when it turned out to be a live multiplayer service, which instantly (even unfairly) cast users and the press into doubt.
The problem is that the game didn’t quite live up to expectations at the time, being heavily penalized by users with little online activity, so much so that despite long-term plans the game practically died within a few months. It was developed by Square Enix and PlatinumGames on this subject.
“We are very sorry for the dissatisfaction we have created in the fan base,” said Atsushi Inaba, CEO of PlatinumGames.
But that doesn’t mean the end of the team’s plans for live service games: “We learned a lot from this experience and it hasn’t changed our future plans for live service games to invest in the future,” Inaba said.
Despite the sadness over Babylon’s Fall’s bad ending, it looks like PlatinumGames still plans to try again to develop such projects, another game from the same team but much more similar to their tradition, namely Bayonetta 3.
