More than ten years later with the app Sourcein which we could buy and manage games from electronic arts, it’s time for a change. The company has announced that a new – as yet unnamed – client is out of testing and will soon replace Origin as EA’s main gaming platform.

“The EA app is our fastest and lightest PC client to date. With a new streamlined design, you can easily find the games and content you want, and discover your new favorite games. With automatic game downloads and background updates, you can be sure your games are ready to play when you want them to be,” EA teases about the new program.

The biggest benefit of the app is supposed to be the ability to expand the list of friends with users from other platforms. It’s not yet clear how wide the selection will be while EA lists as examples Steam, Xbox and PlayStation.

The publisher will prompt the player to switch to a new client in the near future. In any case, the transition should be smooth, in addition to the full library, installed games and other content, saved positions, both local and in the cloud, will be transferred.

But it’s all about the players Window. On MacOS, we’ll still have to rely on Origin.
