In the Destiny 2 showcase, Bungie announced that they would co-exist with Fortnite account owners by making their game available to play in the Epic Game Store.

Epic Games and Bungie team up for a crossover of a lifetime.

It’s official. Bungie has teamed up with Epic Games to give us a crossover we didn’t know we needed. The collaboration sees the two companies creating skins for Destiny 2 and Fortnite, such as gliders, back blings, and even a Destiny-themed creative map in the battle royale. What’s more, with Destiny 2 now available to download in the Epic Games Store, you can download the Destiny 2: The 30th Anniversary Pack for free. With Destiny 2 in the Epic Store, you no longer need to have a Fortnite account separate from your Destiny account; you can now play both games using one main account!  All the expansions for the looter shooter are also free for a limited time. If you’re still planning on playing Destiny 2 on the Steam launcher, you can, but the free version only lets you play the base game—meaning it has no expansions.

Destiny 2, Fortnite, and Fall Guys Sitting In A Tree

In the annual Destiny 2 showcase, Bungie announced their partnership with Epic Games, but that’s not all you should be excited about—there will be cross-promotional events with Fortnite and Fall Guys too.

All three titles received various items and cosmetics to celebrate this momentous occasion. Three Destiny-inspired skins can be purchased in the Fortnite Item Shop; players can run around as Ikora, Zavala, or Exo Stranger.

Meanwhile, there will also be three skins—which are Fortnite-inspired—available to get in Destiny 2. The Destiny 2 ornaments are based on Fortnite’s Black Knight, Drift, and Oblivion skins. Lastly, Fall Guys got skins based on Destiny 2’s Titan, Hunter, and Warlock classes.

The collab goes even further in the case of Fortnite. There are accessories like gliders based on Destiny’s sparrow designs and pickaxes and back blings that pay homage to the looter shooter. Bungie also worked with Epic Games to bring a creative map based on Javelin-4 from Destiny 2 to Fortnite. The map includes a Control game mode akin to Destiny 2’s Crucible mode, which is PvP-based.

Other announcements made during the Destiny 2 showcase stream were the unveiling of Destiny 2: Lightfall—the next DLC and a “significant step” in the ongoing story of Destiny 2, according to Bungie. Lightfall will pick up after the conclusion of The Witch Queen and will follow the story of The Witness, a humanoid villain who commands the Black Fleet ships.

Getting to Know Ikora, Zavala, & Exo Stranger

As said before, the three new Destiny 2 skins in Fortnite are Ikora, Commander Zavala, and Exo Stranger. Each character has its glider, pickaxe, back bling, and emote. If you’re a player of both games, you’ll notice the Sparrow Gliders in Fortnite are the same ones used in Destiny. Plus, the emote features a small Ghost that tags along with you.

Ikora Rey is known as a Warlock champion of the Crucible, and she’s more than capable of slicing her enemies faster than anyone in the Last City. The accessories her skin comes with in Fortnite are the Black Talon pickaxe, Ophiuchus back bling, Sparrow glider, and the Ikora Shader alt style.

Commander Zavala is the Vanguard commander in the Last City. Revered as one of the toughest Titans in the universe, Zavala comes with the Crown Splitter pickaxe, Sparrow glider, Targe back bling, and the Zavala Shader alt style.

Lastly, the Exo Stranger is a legend stuck in a time loop because of her dedication to saving her sister from the Darkness. She comes with The Lament pickaxe, Sparrow glider, Pouka back bling, and the Exo Stranger Shader alt style.

You can find all three characters available for purchase in the Fortnite Item Shop, where they’re sold individually and in a neat little bundle.

How to Get Fortnite Skins in Destiny 2

Besides the Fortnite Item Shop getting some goodies from Destiny 2, there are also Fortnite skins available in Destiny 2’s Eververse store. The Fortnite x Destiny 2 collab has brought three skins as armor ornaments in Destiny 2. You can opt to spend money on Silver to get the bundles, but if that’s not on your budget, you can use the Bright Dust you’ve accumulated to pay for the individual armor pieces to get them for free.

Warlocks can dress up as Fortnite’s Drift with the Painted Kitsune set, Hunters can get Fortnite’s Oblivion via the Eternal Vengeance set, and Titans can don the Black Knight’s skin with the Knightly Noire set.

You can purchase all three Fortnite armor customization sets for your Guardians using Bright Dust, a currency that’s free to earn as you play Destiny 2. Unlike Silver, you won’t need to pay real money to get it. To get the Fortnite armors with Bright Dust, you’ll have to visit the Eververse store’s Bright Dust section after each weekly reset. Here’s a timeline of when you can expect to see the individual pieces of Fortnite armor in Destiny 2:

  • Week 4: Arms (Painted Kitsune Gloves, Eternal Vengeance Grips, Knightly Noire Gauntlets)
  • Week 6: Legs (Painted Kitsune Boots, Eternal Vengeance Strides, Knightly Noire Greaves)
  • Week 8: Class Items (Painted Kitsune Bond, Eternal Vengeance Cloak, Knightly Noire Mark)
  • Week 12: Helmets (Painted Kitsune Hood, Eternal Vengeance Casque, Knightly Noire Helm)
  • Week 14: Chests (Painted Kitsune Robes, Eternal Vengeance Vest, Knightly Noire Plate)

With each armor piece costing 1,600 Bright Dust, you’re looking at spending 8,000 Bright Dust for a complete armor set—getting all three will set you back 24,000 Bright Dust. If you don’t have enough of the currency, make sure to do all your daily repeatable Bounties and finish the weekly vendor challenges. You can also do weekly Seasonal Challenges to get more Bright Dust.

If you’re thinking of buying the skins with Silver, the bundles will come cheaper based on how many armor pieces you already have in your inventory. Currently, the three sets are on sale for 1,600 Silver. Grab them quick if you can, too—because these Fortnite armor bundles won’t be available to buy with Silver after Season of Plunder. That means the next chance you set them in the store is through the Eververse Archive in Season 20 when Destiny 2: Lightfall launches.

Will We Get More Destiny 2 x Fortnite Collabs in the Future?

Given that Destiny 2 and Fortnite accounts can now co-exist in the same launcher, there’s a high chance that we might see more Destiny and Fortnite-themed skins for both games in the future. You can now buy the new skins we’ve mentioned in the Eververse and Fortnite Item Shop. Meanwhile, the crossover event for Fall Guys will go live on September 17 and feature Destiny 2 skins.
