Slime Rancher 2’s sales figures prove just how badly Monomi Park’s lifestyle game needed a sequel, and the developers are stunned by its instant success.
Slime Rancher is basically a farming game where you suck adorable alien slimes into a colorful vacuum-style cannon and spit them out into pens. First released in 2016, it has become a cult classic among gamers.
Releasing the sequel to their classic game on September 22, Monomi Park expected to sell over 100,000 copies of the game in 24 hours. Turns out they did a lot more: Co-founder and CEO Nick Popovich revealed some incredible sales numbers.
A few hours after his release, he tweeted “I had a dream that we could sell 100,000 copies of Slime Rancher 2 in the first 24 hours if the stars aligned.
“We did it in less than six hours. I have no idea where this crazy train is headed, but I am so grateful to have the opportunity to ride it. Thank you very much to all.”
