Rockstar, that is, the publisher of Take-Two, after a while again took action against the mod community. The latest victim was a popular mod called Grand Theft Auto IV Definitive Edition, which contained several mods that improved the fourth GTA.
The authors of the project Twitter announced that they have received a copyright infringement notice via the Mediafire repository regarding the latest update of said mod. They say they have no choice but to remove all mods and files related to GTA IV.
In response to this post, players have been trying to download the mod quickly in the last hours. From servers modification of GTA IV Ultimate Beautiful Edition also disappeared from another team. The crackdown on unofficial mods comes just days after the massive leak of GTA VI footage. However, it is currently impossible to say with certainty whether the two events are related.
Bad news guys. Appreciate if you have people to raise awareness/spread the word as much as possible.
I knew this day would come
So we ran into Rockstar’s DMCA (I guess) in our patch for GTAIV DE.
Well, I guess we need to remove all GTA IV related content from the website. :/ pic.twitter.com/WUjKRluhXl— DEP | Final Edition Project (@d_e_p_official) September 18, 2022
