A teenage hacker suspected of being linked to the GTA 6 leak group has been arrested in Oxfordshire. City of London Police say the 17-year-old was arrested on September 22 as part of an investigation by the UK’s National Cyber Crime Unit. Additional sources claim that this suspect is the source of the Grand Theft Auto IV leak that was made public this week.
municipal police report The suspect remained in custody on September 23, but did not provide a name or any other identifying information. Police also do not associate the arrest with the Rockstar Games hack or the Lapsus$ hacker group, which is believed to be responsible for both the Rockstar hack and the recent Uber hack.
California journalist matthew keyes said sources told him the arrest was related to the rapes, but police refused to confirm this when contacted by Reuters.
Keys also says that the source tells him that this investigation was “conducted in conjunction with an FBI investigation.”
Rockstar, for its part, has not made any official comment on the arrest. The company said it was “disappointed” with the leaked images, but did not believe the leak would affect the development of Grand Theft Auto IV.
