Early on, footage from the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI game was leaked, sparking some discussion about what a AAA game should look like after years of development, among other things. A few days ago, a hacker posted some classified material that he received on the company’s internal network. Among them are several videos showing the early stage of the game, which Rockstar has been working on since 2014 and plans to release it, according to various assumptions, at the turn of 2024 and 2025.
The shots turned out to be not the most beautiful, which was immediately picked up by unfortunate experts. “If you know how games are developed, you also know that visuals are one of the first things to do. They planned and developed this game for four years. What you see is basically what you get.” he tweeted one of the users with mission programming or bug fixes. And it so happened that the pseudo-case was solved.
But this time, the social media controversy paid off too. Developers from other studios began to share unique footage from the early stages of their games to support their colleagues at Rockstar. they made “enlightenment” for fans. Because the specified user was simply wrong.
One of them was Paul Ehret of Remedy Entertainment who worked on the game. Control. “When they say that graphics are the first thing to do in a game, and Control has received several awards for outstanding graphics, here are footage from the beginning of development,” he wrote, posting a rather long video in which the main character Jessie, dressed in an office wearing a skirt walks around a blocky gray world and rolls dice with the words “throw me” written on it.
Next up are the creators of a new game with a cute sheep that is expanding its cult and destroying heretics: Cult of the Lamb.

“AT Mass Effect 3 (three!) After two years of development, Shepard had no head. This was the third episode. On the same engine. Headless,” Mark Darra, formerly of Bioware, tweeted.
“A year before the release of Mass Effect 3, the only running animation we had was a husky reaper running animation. So even Shepard ran like that for a month,” added Bioware screenwriter Patrick Wicks. If you don’t remember what a husk is… Well, it’s just not pleasant.

And as the Kotaku website, which also compiled its own collection, points out, there is also a video of an early version of the famous chase from fourth unknown.
