EA isn’t doing a great job with the latest entry in the Battlefield series. Plus, it managed to completely outshine the rival Call of Duty series with Warzone, which is why gamers prefer to pick a horse from Activision’s stable when deciding which brand to pick. So it’s no surprise that EA CEO Andrew Wilson is backing the idea of Call of Duty becoming an Xbox exclusive, according to his recent statement at the Goldman Sachs conference. Its place on the PlayStation can be replaced by the future Battlefield, which will be literally on all major platforms except for the Nintendo Switch.
Battlefield could benefit from this fact in other ways as well. While Call of Duty has offered PlayStation players a number of bonuses so far, EA’s FPS could take on that role in the future, which could receive additional funds from Sony for exclusivity in some aspects. However, Activision hasn’t sold yet, so these ideas are more music for the coming days than anything that could actually happen. In addition, for myself, I believe that the Xbox will keep the Call of Duty series due to its profitability on all platforms, because money does not smell.
