Call of Duty will stay on PlayStation: Phil Spencer Wrote Jim Ryan to reassure that existing deals will remain valid for a few more years and therefore the franchise is unlikely to be Xbox exclusive. Actually not for a few years.
As you may recall, Sony claims that Call of Duty is unbeatable and that after the game’s completion, the franchise is the ultimate exclusive on Microsoft platforms.Acquisition of Activision Blizzard can create a competitive problem.
“Last January, we signed an agreement with Sony to ensure that Call of Duty remains available on PlayStation with the following features. parity of features and contentseveral years beyond the current contract: an offer that goes far beyond the typical deals signed in the gaming industry,” said Phil Spencer.
The Microsoft Gaming CEO’s message follows claims that Call of Duty will be on Xbox Game Pass, with Overwatch, Diablo, and other Activision Blizzard games instead, which could be seen as a kind of glove against Sony.
Of course, it is not known what the “several years” Spencer refers to, although some insiders claim that the current agreement between PlayStation and Activision will expire in 2024: everything that comes after will depend on the new contract.
