New heroes in Overwatch 2 will have to be earned

However, according to a new Blizzard report, players won’t have immediate access to new heroes like they did in the first Overwatch. Instead, they will have to earn them through their efforts in battles or invest and buy a paid battle pass.

Blizzard later removed the information from the Watchpoint Pack on Battle.net, stating that it was incomplete. Vice President John Spector then explained that all heroes will be available with a free battle pass. Thus, the characters will not only be for the paid battle pass, but also for immediate access to them.

The problem may still occur because to unlock heroes you will have to spend your time playing. It depends only on Blizzard how generous they will be in this case. Diablo Immortal isn’t too generous…

In a good case, getting heroes might work support an active communityso that players can play regularly. But when the limits are set incorrectly, most likely an obstacle that Blizzard will use to encourage players to pay for the battle pass.

But even the first case could be a hurdle for players who won’t play Overwatch 2 regularly. According to Spector, other free paths to get new heroes in future seasons will solve this problem. This way, even if you can’t unlock a new hero in the free battle pass, there will be an option to get it later without paying.
