A few weeks ago, the Humankind 4X strategy celebrated its first anniversary. In one year, the developers from Amplitude Studios managed to release several major updates, as well as two additions, in which African and then Latin American peoples appeared. However, these were relatively small DLCs compared to what the authors prepared next. Already at Gamescom in Cologne, I was able to participate in a presentation dedicated to the first major addition, which is called “Together we rule”. And today it was officially announced.
First of all, it is worth saying that along with the add-on, a big update will be released, which will be free for all owners of the game. We can expect an improved user interface, a redesigned independent people system, and a brand new stealth mechanic.
The expansion itself focuses on diplomacy and will bring a lot of new content. The essence of everything is in the new currency, influence (in the original “lever”). You get this when, for example, one of the other players does something nefarious. In this case, you can send agents to this location, which is a new type of unit that is currently gaining influence.
Agents are divided into three types. The first is the envoy, who can move freely around the map, but within diplomatic restrictions. In addition to gaining influence, for example, it can win over independent states more quickly. In addition, there is a spy who can infiltrate another world, get information or even steal. The last type is the so-called “master spy”, which is essentially an upgraded spy that can also destroy a built area or confuse an enemy unit.
The big news is the Congress of Humanity, which actually functions as the UN and will be unlocked in the fifth age. It is an international association in which decisions are made on important issues affecting the whole world. Protracted conflicts can also be resolved here. And be careful, the rule that whoever is bigger is stronger does not apply here. Whoever has the most influence has the most power. Using it, you can, for example, achieve the “imposition” of a law that you want to apply worldwide.
There will also be a new building, an embassy. Thanks to him, you can, for example, negotiate additional agreements with other states, as well as put forward an ultimatum or impose sanctions.
As with the previous packs, there are new cultures, but this time there’s a whole new group associated with them, which is, of course, diplomatic. Such nations can gain influence through units other than agents, and can also demilitarize a territory for 10 turns. There are 6 new cultures in total, one for each era. These are Sumerians, Hans, Bulgarians, Swiss, Scots and Singaporeans.
And since we are talking about the number 6, then there will be such a number of new wonders of the world. In particular, these will be Monument Valley, Eldzha, Chocolate Hills, Pamukkale, the Palace of Versailles and the venue for the Congress of Humanity. Also, 15 new events will be added to the game.
Supplement Together We Rule will be released this fall, the exact release date is not yet known. It’s only for PC for now, but the main games will also release on consoles on November 4th, so we can probably expect players to see it there as well.
Of course, support for the game does not end with this addition, the developers are already planning other news, which you can find in the table below.
