Fallout: New Vegas mod restores cut content for RPG console release

The Fallout: New Vegas mod restores several visual and environmental elements that Obsidian originally removed when the Bethesda-published RPG was released for consoles, breathing new life into the Mojave Desert and dozens of little details.

Fallout: New Vegas was released for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 in 2010. While each version is basically the same, it appears that a number of small details were removed from the first PC iteration because they slowed down the console. These include more varied animations for NPCs, more advanced AI and NPC behaviors, and lots of fine detail about the environment and enemy spawns.

You may have noticed, for example, that NPCs in New Vegas tend to stay put in one spot rather than go through a series of idle animations, such as sleeping and smoking, or leaving their homes to visit other areas. . A new mod called LD’s Improved New Vegas restores all of these features and also fills the game with more characters and monsters that were removed to free up space on the console’s memory.

While work is still in progress, the mod has so far reintroduced cut environmental elements to a wide range of New Vegas locations, including Primm, Goodsprings, Novak, and New Vegas’s Westside Strip. The goal is to continue adding more animations, NPCs, and reducing enemy spawn so that the entire Mojave Wasteland feels more active and livable, as originally intended before the console cuts.

You can download LD Enhanced New Vegas from Nexus Mods and give it a try to see how, with just a few minor tweaks, Mojave can feel so much more alive. And of course another part of New Vegas with this revamped world is the perfect way to pass the time while we wait for more information on the next Bethesda project and Starfield release date.

You can also take a look at some of the other best Fallout: New Vegas mods, or maybe some of the best survival games and RPGs on PC, including Fallout 4 and Elden Ring.
