A number of games were shown as part of this year’s Gamescom. The publisher also took advantage of this. FULCROOM, which you probably know under the former name 1C Entertainment. She gave us five different games in our hands, which we have the opportunity to try in advance and show them to you.

In this preview, we’ll take a look at two retro shooters, space strategy, top down action and somewhat unique 2D RPG. Everyone will probably find their favorite here, so let’s get down to business.

DELUVIAN ULTRA

Let’s start from the very beginning with one of the two mentioned retro shooters. Deluvian Ultra is the first work from the Crest Helm studio, which has been dedicated to this event since at least 2016. And as is often the case with these games, the key is here. speed and non-stop action. The Diluvian Ultra doesn’t really miss this, and you’ll be running through fairly large levels not only with firearms – be it a shotgun, submachine gun, or automatic pistol – but also with with a swordwhich is much more useful than it might seem at first glance.

The classic retro analogy has hidden rooms and not exactly low difficulty. However, he appears in the game. smart checkpoint system as well as light rpg elements in the form of an opportunity to improve your character by collecting the so-called Focus points; you can improve the damage and range of your sword or the quality of your armor. The repertoire of movements also includes a dash and the ability to jump from a height to the ground and cause a destructive wave.

An interesting atmosphere can be interesting too, which is quite difficult to correctly specify, but certainly has a unique effect. If we lured you in, the game should be out sometime this year.

HYPER VIOLENT

The second retro shooter on our list is HYPER VIOLENT by Terminist Arcade. But he only gets half of his name. She is definitely aggressive. Hyper again, not much. Compared to Diluvian Ultra, this is approximately slower action, which, instead of frantic movement, focuses on dense dark atmospheres in equally dark environments that have evoked us from the very beginning, such as the third part of Doom. Mainly because the flashlight had to be held in one hand almost all the time to see at least something.

However, this is still a shooter and there will definitely be more than enough action. The sci-fi environments, with relatively classic weapons and game mechanics such as colored cards and therefore keys, are sure to appeal to many fans, and the relatively simple but fairly branched level design looks good. Like the backstory, you’re trying to figure out what happened on a remote mining colony.

HYPERVIOLENT comes out in just a few days, on September 8, as part of early access on Steam. I just personally can’t shake the impression that the game would have been better if it hadn’t been locked at 30fps.

UNTOLD STORIES OF LOVECRAFT 2

Let’s move on from shooters … to the next shooter. However, this time we are replacing the first-person view with a top-down camera in a Lovecraft-inspired RPG. Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2.

Since its first release, the game has changed mainly in regards to the visuals, moving from pixel art to vector graphics, but still hand-drawn graphics. Not everyone will probably consider this transition the best, since the atmosphere and elements directly inspired by Lovecraft’s works are also preserved in the second part.

First of all, it is about top-down shooter and environmental exploration, collecting items, using abilities and trying to survive will of course be the main ones here. And also navigate the story, which makes you wonder if everything you see is real. Also, this is a title with rogue-like elements, so of course gradual character improvement works here, as well as the ability to play as multiple characters and thus progress further.

Lovecraft’s Untold Stories 2 was released in its full version on September 13th.

EXPEDITION PEGAS

The game that is probably the most different from the others on our list today is Strategy 4X Pegasus Expedition. This is because it is a space grand strategy that, like others like it, requires a lot of time and, above all, proper planning. And this is both in the construction part, and in the military part, and even in the diplomatic part.

As a commander, your goal will be to explore the Pegasus galaxy. As is often the case, you start with one – in the case of this game – system and gradually expand. This brings with it new opportunities, but also consequences.. Other factions may not be the kindest to you. In addition to building your systems with bases that will generate your resources, you will have to deal with constant battles for dominance over other systems or diplomacy to keep other factions on your side.

As for the battles, a rather interesting idea is that at the beginning of each of them you choose the strategy that your units will follow. And depending on where the enemy is, you have to choose the right strategy to increase your chance. There is also a story campaign that follows you and your assistants as they try to find a home in new parts of the universe.

THE SCIENCE

But we’ve saved the best for last. Turn based 2D RPG LEAD it is excellent in both playability and style. In the role of a relatively young warrior, we explore a mysterious and magical world full of flying islands and monsters. Exploration happens by simply choosing destinations, usually left or right, and you will always discover something new. It could be a friendly NPC you’re talking to, or it could be a monster you need to kill.

This is where the turn-based combat system comes into play.. The playing field is divided into four parts, and depending on the attack of the enemy, you must conclude which sides are safe and where to move. With most attacks, you move your character left or right at the same time, and in addition to attacking, you also have to pay attention to position. This is an interesting system, which, admittedly, works better in practice than on paper.

This is definitely enhanced by the beautiful graphic style with hand-drawn graphics that are, in a word, breathtaking and unique. There are also scamsso you can count on the right strategy to be seriously needed.

JNVM is due out sometime this year and we have to say we’re looking forward to it ourselves. Anyway, that would be all for today’s “Preview Five”. FULQRUM has more than one interesting name in stock, and as we mentioned at the beginning of the video, everyone will probably find their favorite.
