Starfield, the upcoming space RPG from Fallout and Skyrim developer Bethesda, is a “huge” and “philosophical” game that can “swallow a huge chunk of your being,” says Inon Zur, a composer who also worked on Fallout. 4. New Vegas. and The Elder Scrolls: Blades.

Thinking about Starfield’s release date, rumors, and facts, we’re already looking forward to an expansive RPG with over 1,000 planets to explore, multiple locations, quests, and survival mechanics. Almost any Bethesda game can change your life, from the hundreds of hours spent exploring the Commonwealth in Fallout 4 to the dozens of Skyrim releases and re-releases that have entertained us for over a decade. Starfield, however, almost feels like an existential game so complete that it makes you wonder if normal real life is even worth it.

“Starfield is a great game,” says Zur. “It’s a deep game, a philosophical game. If you want to play Starfield, you will need a lot of energy. It will definitely give you a different perspective, perhaps a deeper perspective, for your whole being. The courage to ask questions and try to answer them is at the heart of Starfield. Starfield takes a very bold step into a more philosophical realm. It’s not about your appearance. It’s not about the gameplay, although they’re amazing too. It’s about the story and your ability to write your own story.”

While appearing on Nikhil Hogan’s show, Zur also talks about his work on Prince of Persia and Baldur’s Gate, as well as composing the theme for Fallout 4. Meanwhile, the history of Starfield remains highly mysterious, although it appears to be related to a ancient artifact. which has the potential to uncover a great secret about the nature of the universe: one of Starfield’s factions, the Constellation is apparently a team of scientists and thinkers dedicated to excavating “what exists”.
