A new game from the Silent Hill series has been talked about for a very long time. In May, a leaker known as Dusk Golem posted several screenshots of the upcoming game, after which the images were removed from Twitter at the request of Konami. Insider also stated that four games are in development: a small demo of Sakura, a full-fledged sequel, an episodic story game, and a remake of the second part. The last name mentioned is related to the latest leak.
The Polish studio Bloober Team should work on the remake, today this is practically no secret to anyone. In addition, last year the company has already established an official cooperation with Konami. But now the cover art (see article preview) and three screenshots directly from the game (see below) have leaked online. They look fake due to the blur, but according to Dusk Golem (and VGC magazine) they are real, just not from the current version of the game. They were reportedly taken from a 2018 demo that the Bloober Team created for Konami so that work on the full game could then begin. So they don’t even remotely represent the current form of the game.
A purported slide from an internal presentation has also made its way online, mentioning newly designed puzzles, improved AI and animation, and two new endings. The game will be released on PC and PlayStation consoles, where it will be exclusive for 12 months. But the release date is Christmas 2022, which is unlikely given that the game has yet to be officially announced. This will indicate that this is an older presentation.
Interestingly, it also mentions the other two names mentioned at the beginning. Annapurna’s “SH Short Stories” (2023) and Silent Hill 5 (2024). According to the presentation, the fifth volume was supposed to be announced along with a demo similar to PT (apparently “Sakura”) in the summer of 2021. This is consistent with information provided by various insiders last year. But why such a delay and when will we finally see new games? These are questions to which we still do not know the answer.
