Doom X Trivium’s soundtrack sounds like a perfect match, especially considering fans’ adoration for classic FPS and gory combat. Amid the excitement surrounding Hellsinger, Funcom Metal’s Hellsinger hybrid, vocalist and Twitch sensation Matt Heafy admitted that composing a Doom soundtrack was a childhood dream of his.
In general, Heafy advocates more crossover between the heavy metal genre and gaming; two worlds that often seem interconnected but actually exist in some way parallel to each other.
After guesting in Funcom’s new (mildly violent) rhythm game Metal Hellsinger, Heafy’s dreams of bridging the musical realm and the virtual realm finally seem within reach.
Speaking about which game soundtrack he’d like to record next at Gamescom 2022, Heafy admits that the Doom X Trivium crossover has been on his wish list since he started playing, and that’s what we’d like. to love watch.
While he mentions that Final Fantasy (his favorites are 7, 6, 4, and 9) is also a series he’d like to immerse himself in musically, he says making a Doom soundtrack is “his lifelong dream”; in fact, he had been thinking about it since childhood.
“Since I was nine years old I have spoken [that] I would love to do Doom one day,” he tells me with a smile. “We’ll have to watch, but hopefully they’ll see it and say, ‘Let’s invite this guy.’
No promises Matt, but I’ll do my best to share it.
While we wait for the Doom X Trivium soundtrack, you’ll see us play Metal Hellsinger, available on September 4th. Do you want to blow the head of “This Devastation”? Be sure to check out our Metal Hellsinger system requirements to make sure your PC is metal enough to handle the mayhem.
