Valve’s Half-Life 3 cover suggests plans for a sequel

Valve-designed Half-Life 3 art has been revealed on YouTube, hinting at what the missing sci-fi FPS sequel Half-Life 2 might look like if it actually makes it to Steam, along with new production footage for Left. 4 Dead 2 and maybe an early version of Half-Life: Alyx.

Of all the world’s great mysteries (the lost city of Atlantis, Shergar’s disappearance, how they managed to screw up the final season of Game of Thrones), Half-Life 3’s release date is arguably the most harrowing. Almost 20 years after the release of Half-Life 2, there has been so little official news that it seems Valve has forgotten that Half-Life 3 was ever conceived or considered for production. It’s a weird, almost Mandela effect, where we all remember there once was a possible sequel to Half-Life 2, but Valve swears it never happened.

So these new images almost look like artifacts from a parallel dimension that somehow slipped through a wormhole and landed in our own macabre universe without Half-Life 3. Friends, an avid collector of Valve memorabilia and memorabilia. When Valve moved its headquarters, a friend of McVicker contacted the developer to ask if there were any memorabilia from the original building that they could obtain or purchase. Among the loot, they finally found concept art related to Half-Life 3.

From what’s shown here, the world of Half-Life 3 looks much more desolate than the Citadel and suburbs of Half-Life 2. There’s warped Alliance technology, a barren wasteland, and alien wildlife invading more and more the earth. There is also a conceptual part of what looks like another member of the Combine race. Tiny and wrinkled, with no distinguishing features, it’s basically a pale, swollen patch, almost like a giant tick or termite. It’s hard to say, but it sounds like the kid version of the terrifying, gelatinous Unification Councilors who are behind the entire invasion of our planet, and who we’d hope to hear more about if Half-Life 3 were ever released. .

You can also see an image of Alyx and her robot friend Dog wandering through a strange dune-like valley that may have been intended for a spin-off focusing on the two characters or just as an early concept. for the half-life period: Alix. It also appears that Left 4 Dead 2 originally featured more enemy types, as well as several iterations of its iconic cover art.

There’s a lot to speculate here, especially since the landscape shown seems to be at odds with the frigid arctic environment shown at the end of Half-Life 2: Episode Two. Maybe Half-Life 3 would have been a more immersive adventure, or maybe the story would have aired in the third episode of Half-Life 2 and then a full sequel. We will never know.

Where we go? Find out everything we know about the Half-Life 3 release date, rumors, and news, and see if you can solve the mystery.
