Fortnite X Marvel Comic Review: Zero War 3

With the third volume, this comic book series reaches the middle point, as there will be five volumes in total. And I’m happy to report that after a lackluster start in the first volume and a few boring battles in the second, the story finally got to the stage where it was able to give enough attention to the key characters, their motives and relationships. As with Fortnite’s previous collaboration with DC Comics, the emotional focus here is ultimately on love. However, this time it is also accompanied by references to difficult family relationships, the longevity of some characters, and other interesting topics.

An unexpected romance

While on the icy moon above the island, one part of the mixed superhero team managed to find the robot and its unexpectedly surviving female pilot, the other part, looking for the engine for said robot, is waiting for the night in the jungle. Chatter around the evening fire is just a prelude to much more intimate conversations when the group breaks up into pairs. This is where a somewhat surprisingly honest romance strikes between two key characters, one from the Marvel universe and the other from Fortnite. I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised, and especially the image of the first kiss, I probably will not get out of my head.

In addition, the tragic fate of Agent Jones’ family will be revealed, as well as the dark relationship between Imagined and her father. In this way, the comic continues to deepen the knowledge of the video game in a rather important way for video game fans. But as a side effect, it finally has some kind of emotional core so that the reader can empathize with the characters and start to really root for them. The only thing that disappointed me in this pleasant development was the rather weak portrayal of the Imaginary Character. Although she is one of the sexiest character models in the game, this freckled, red-haired woman unfortunately looks much less attractive in the comics, including the fact that the evening light turns her hair pink.

Wolverine Souvenirs

Of course, avid Fortnite players are also looking for a code to download the bonus directly into the game. In the third notebook, this time you will find a unique weapon “pick” in the form of Wolverine’s adamant claws, which you can put on any character in the game. To make it look even more stylish, in addition to this weapon, an emote is included in the DLC code, showing the classic effective stretching and crossing of these claws. While of course I would have preferred a full character skin, this is such an iconic weapon that I consider adding it to the game as a very nice gift.

It took a while, but we finally got to the stage where this comic book series is really interesting and, in addition to a promising start to the story, offers players worthy gifts. Of course, the more passionate will also appreciate the relatively extensive deepening of knowledge about their game, as well as displaying the personalities and histories of key Fortnite characters. More or less this series again becomes an event, more or less a must for the true fans of the game.

The fourth part will not have to wait long, because it comes out tomorrow, Wednesday, August 31st.
