Developer Gearbox revealed at Gamescom that another wacky Borderlands adventure is coming. New Tales from the Borderlands will be released on October 21, and will feature new misfit characters in a “worst day of their life” adventure game.
Gearbox half-announced New Tales from the Borderlands during the PAX East panel earlier this year, noting that this new “interactive fiction” game was developed in-house by Gearbox and not by original developer Telltale Games; that studio was dissolved. but has since been recreated and is currently working on an adaptation of the sci-fi series The Expanse and The Wolf Among Us 2.
New Tales from the Borderlands, as seen in the trailer below, follows three new characters facing a planetary invasion by the armorer Tediore. There’s Anu, a selfless budding scientist, her witty punk brother Octavio, and her friend Fran, who runs a frozen yogurt stand in her hometown of Promethia.
Evading Tediore’s invading forces, the trio hatches a plan to infiltrate the vault and obtain its secrets before Tediore can. It’s safe to say that absolutely none of this is going to go as planned, and we’re bound to run into a lot of extremely loud weirdos along the way.
New Tales from the Borderlands opens October 21 on Steam and the Epic Games Store. The Standard Edition is $39.99 / £34.99, while the Deluxe Edition is $49.99 / £44.99 and includes the original Borderlands Tales.
