Starfield Gameplay Trailer Hints At Sophisticated Space Hacking

Starfield’s gameplay trailer must have seemed pretty tiring. Picked up and scrutinized since its appearance at Summer Games Fest, it continues to offer little details about Bethesda’s upcoming space RPG, in hopes that perhaps fans will leave it alone and return to Fallout and Skyrim. But until we get Starfield’s precious release date, all we have is the first playable trailer, and surprisingly it still hides a few select secrets, including a hint of what it’s all about being a space pirate.

If you review all the information we have regarding Starfield’s release date, rumors and news, you’ll know that Bethesda RPG unfortunately does not support direct space travel to a planet – if you’ve explored space and want to land on dry land, you’ll most likely you will have to go through a loading screen, not a smooth transition. However, docking with other ships seems to be very different. Whether you want to meet another space traveler or, more likely, rob their ship for anything you can find in their oxygen suits, you’ll have all the information you need right at your fingertips.

As noted on the very dedicated and enthusiastic Starfield subreddit, when you start docking, your ship’s computer provides an overview of all of the ship’s docking systems. You can see if their engines are working, if they have combat weapons and if the life support system is working. This will allow you to know in advance if the ship you are about to embark on is worth it.

If the opposing ship has a decent weapon system, you might want to think twice. Conversely, if the life support system is down, you can probably take whatever you want, as long as you’re ready to step over some corpses. Especially given the survival mechanics already hinted at in Starfield’s gameplay trailer, looting other ships is likely to become a regular part of the RPG, which is why Bethesda has added this long-awaited little tweak to the game to make it more easy.

There are many things we don’t know yet, but we have a complete knowledge of all the Starfield cities, as well as the creation of Starfield characters and weapons. Whether Bethesda will reveal more at Gamescom remains to be seen, as the creator of Elder Scrolls and Fallout continues to change his plans, but PCGamesN will be live from the living room to bring you new details on the highly-rated game and Starfield’s release date.
