Star Citizen’s ship size isn’t everything, says developer

Star Citizen ships can be quite a controversial topic – digital starships are being sold for real money in a game that’s been in alpha development for about 6 years and some believe it’s possible to spend thousands of dollars on a game without setting up a release date. stupid business.

Personally, I think you can spend your money however you see fit, but I’m afraid I’ll always get beaten in Star Citizen, regardless of my experience or how long I play, someone with a big wallet and a big ship. .

Fortunately, a recent Q&A session with the Star Citizen developers allayed some of my concerns. A particular part of the video deals with the size of the ships and how they view the player’s progress in their chosen profession. Is a big boat always the best for every task? The developer says no… basically:

“There are situations in this game that we’re creating where you might need two little things instead of two big things.” He continues: “There will be situations to encourage the use of smaller, ‘smaller’ vehicles.”

The discussion is interesting and in line with the ambition of the project as a whole, they don’t want to lock you in or get you involved in anything specific. The goal of Star Citizen is to give you the tools to play the way you want. “No one is going to stop you from buying an Orion as the first ship in the game and trying to control it.”

It’s nice to know that I’ll be useful no matter what size ship I’m currently on. It would be a shame if the game finally turned into a “my capital ship is bigger than yours” contest. For me personally, the attraction in these battles is being a fighter who goes in and out of huge fights like an annoying little wasp that stings without prejudice.

There is no full release date yet for Star Citizen or Squadron 42, which will probably “be done when it’s ready”, but Star Citizen updates are released regularly. I can’t wait to sit down and get into my new life as a space trucker, just zipping down the space highway avoiding eye contact with everyone I meet.
