The Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit at the Embracer Group
Acquired rights to create and license adaptations of The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit and other brands. will allow Embracer Group to develop video games, board games and films set in Middle-earth without restrictions.. Companies don’t have to beg anyone to get a license. On the other hand, anyone who wants to develop new games or make films and TV shows will need to obtain a license from Middle-earth Enterprises, which will fall under the new Embracer Group division..
Licenses that were negotiated prior to this transaction remain in effect. This means the stealth action The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, the mystery game from the world of The Lord of the Rings by Weta Workshop and Private Division, or the mobile game The Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth by Electronic Arts, as well as The Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power series from Amazon and the animated film The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim from Warner Bros.
