Deckmate is a Swiss Army accessory for your Steam platform.

A new Steam Deck accessory has arrived, and it’s essentially the Swiss Army Knife of add-ons for your PDA. The mounting system, dubbed the Deckmate, allows the gaming laptop to do all sorts of clever tricks, like carrying a power bank like a backpack and attaching it to a wall like Spider-Man.

Deckmate for the Steam Deck first appeared in May as a 3D printed hot-swappable accessory project. The plugin is now available as a third-party product, which means you won’t need to print the parts yourself. However, the digital files are available for free on the Deckmate website, so you can still run your print business efficiently if you wish.

As a reminder, the Deckmate is essentially four accessories in one, as the complete system includes a stand, wall mounts, VESA mount, and anything else that can be attached to the back of a laptop. In theory, the last part means you can use the best SSD for tabletop gaming or a battery for extra power on the go.

If you want to get your hands on all the Deckmate gear, the complete system is available for $49. Separate stands and a main handle are also available so you can try the system and spend less money. Again, 3D printer parents can use their wonderful machine to print parts for free, but this option comes with the usual do-it-yourself caveats.

The Steam Deck hasn’t been around that long, but there’s already a wide selection of third-party accessories. The official Valve Dock may be mostly empty right now, but the best Steam Deck options appear left-to-right and centered, and a SteamOS update recently improved the Portable Dock experience.
