League of Legends’ Star Guardian event was extended after several Riot Games MOBA players reported that they were not receiving quest updates, rewards, or event tokens.
A League of Legends user recently submitted a support request to Riot Games due to an issue updating their Star Guardian quests. They reportedly received a message confirming that not only were the quests closed for “maintenance”, but that the event store would be extended until August 24.
This follows a series of complaints from League of Legends fans regarding the reward system of the latest event. Many player quests weren’t updated, some weren’t rewarded, and most importantly, some couldn’t keep up with the antics of the school’s super crime-fighting team. . Fans shared details of the complaints online.
At best, this could annoy anyone, but considering that many people have paid money to access the premium version of the event pass, they are even more offended. Some skins can only be obtained by purchasing them from the current event store. So while the extension is welcome, not being able to track your currently earned tokens may lead to more problems in the future.
Riot Arwyll posted an update on the League of Legends support page:
“We are aware of delays affecting quest progress as well as the provision of higher level rewards and Star Guardian event tokens, and are working on a fix. Rest assured, the delay is temporary and your rewards are on the way.”
Riot’s acknowledgment of the issues lends more weight to the supposed message of support received by the player, and since this has happened in the past with other events, it’s not hard to take it at face value. According to Riot Player Support, the full plan to resolve the quest issues is as follows:
“a. We will be extending the Event Store until Wednesday, August 24 in all regions. This means that players will continue to earn Tokens through loot and quests, and will be able to use the Tokens for two more days.
2. On Wednesday, August 17, we will activate a cleanup mission in the affected regions, which players must complete before August 24. At this point, I would like to inform you that the rewards for this cleanup mission are not finalized.”
If you’re having trouble getting a pass to a Star Guardian event, it’s unfortunately going to be “watch this space” for now. The save missions they talk about usually involve playing a game for a bunch of tokens to catch up.
