While many fans have asked if there is a Harry Potter in Hogwarts Legacy, others have looked to the game’s various trailers for new information. An eagle-eyed witch or wizard has spotted a mysterious cave just below the iconic castle, and in turn sparked a discussion about what it could be, and more importantly, whether it confirms players will be able to swim.
As word spreads about Portkey Games’ new Harry Potter role-playing game, Hogwarts Legacy, die-hard fans are finally seeing more and more of the novel’s iconic landscapes transformed into virtual spaces waiting to be explored.
While some fans were looking at behind-the-scenes footage of the entrance to the Hufflepuff common room, others were watching the trailers for something new.
And that is exactly what they did. Beneath the legendary structure of Hogwarts Castle lies a mysterious new cavern that has certainly got the Harry Potter community talking, especially as it may allude to swimming mechanics.
Beneath the misty towers and peaks of Hogwarts is a small cavern that appears to be a new addition to the landscape of the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
“I think it’s a cave entrance, or maybe a hidden entrance to the dungeons, or maybe the Slytherin common room, which we know will be below the waterline,” one eagle-eyed fan wrote.
“The strange thing is that we can only get to this place by swimming,” they continue, asking, “is that too much of a stretch or does that confirm swimming too?”
“They mentioned that there were catacombs under Hogwarts, I don’t remember exactly where they said that,” comments one fan. “So yeah, I think there will be dungeon-like areas on the map, maybe some of them will be caves.”
“If you also look, the cave is connected to the lake… I think it could be a small cove where the cousins go in boats before ordering,” another responds. However, one avid fan commented that “in the movies, instead of sticking to that, they put a boathouse that connects in front of a big hall with stairs leading up the mountain… I wonder. Ask what kind of cave…”.
Whether this will be just a dock or an entirely new underwater adventure remains to be seen, but either way, the excitement around the Hogwarts legacy is very, very real. However, this is just one of many upcoming 2022 PC games that are building buzz, so be sure to check them out.
