The Apex Legends Season 14 update is on the way and promises to shake up the current meta with wild weapon changes and a brand new Legend. While it’s one thing to deal with Season 14’s weapon changes that replaced the Wingman and Spitfire, it’s another to deal with an all-new Legend. If you’re wondering where Vantage will fit in, the devs gave us a rundown of which Legends your team should pick if you’re going to be playing as Vantage when the Apex Legends Season 14 update releases.
Vantage Lead Designer and Engineer Chris Winder discussed strong lineup synergies during the Apex Legends Season 14 press event and shared his thoughts on who would be a best fit for Vantage, given its unique hardware that combines long-range effectiveness, mobility and target acquisition.
“I think Rampart comes to mind immediately,” says Winder – and the reason is clear. As Winder describes it, with Rampart’s amped cover tactical ability, Rampart players can “create a nice sniper nest for the Vantage to fire at” while “activating” their shots.
Additionally, Winder explained that “any character who is good at diving into enemies” should also be considered a good fit for Vantage – although many of these characters are lower than our Apex Legends tier list. .
“Characters who can take advantage of Vantage’s damage from a distance, quickly close in on that distance after spotting a target with the Vantage ultimate” is a safe bet. Pathfinder, Horizon, and Ash are great examples, but you could argue that Octane, Bangalore, and even Wraith would also fall into this loose category.

Speaking exclusively to The Loadout about how Apex Legends’ Kings Canyon redesign should shake up the meta, game designer Eric Canavese brought Fuse into the conversation.
“Having the Vantage mix will create a really interesting style of play that we haven’t had a lot in the past…I’m really excited to see what the Fuse and Vantage teams can do.” Although Canavese is talking specifically about Kings Canyon, it’s easy to see why the Fuse is a great option to pair with the Vantage. The ability to deal ranged damage and flank enemies with The Motherlode – her ultimate ability – can be vital in keeping enemies on Vantage’s target so she can make the most of her own ultimate ability.

Of course, that’s just speculation at this point – we don’t know to what extent the community will be able to include Vantage in their roster until the Apex Legends Season 14 update is released. Apex Legends’ ultimate abilities with Vantage’s Sniper’s Mark suggests it’ll be more useful than you might think – and that’s a sign it’s still one of the best battle royale games out there. Respawn Entertainment is always exploring new ways to play, and Season 14 is a testament to their efforts to keep Apex Legends fresh and fun.
